Keep a Time Log

Are you and your family making the most of your time? Most people don't have a clear idea. To find out, set aside one week to have each member of your family keep a time log. Every half hour, everyone should record how they spend their time. (Don't cheat. If you usually spend an hour watching videos, don't change just because you're keeping the log.)

Now, you and your teen can start to make choices. Decide which things are most important to you. Those have to stay. But are you spending too much time on things that aren't a priority?

If you want to make more time with your teen, for example, you'll need to cut out something else. The time log gives you a picture in black and white of where your time is going. Then you can make choices that are best for you and your family.
