Responsible Learning Happens Daily
Taking responsibility for learning involves more than turning in schoolwork when it’s due and studying for tests. For students, it also means giving school their best effort every day.
Encourage your teen to make these responsible habits part of a daily routine:
- Reading ahead. By skimming the lesson or chapter for the next class ahead of time, your student will be better prepared for class. Advance reading can also help your teen ask better questions.
- Reviewing class notes. Whether or not your teen has an assignment in a subject, a daily review of notes is an easy way to reinforce the material in your student's mind.
- Attending every class. Even if your teen does the assignments and reading, it's hard to learn what the teacher thinks is important without being in class. Students also benefit when classmates ask questions they may not have thought of.
