A Few Extra Minutes of Math Go a Long Way

Your teen has finished the assigned math problems. But your student is not finished yet. Taking a few extra minutes to answer questions at the end of a homework session can boost math grades.

Before your teen closes the book, suggest asking and answering these questions:

• Is there another way to solve the problems I just finished?
• If I close my book and notes, can I write a summary of what I learned?
• How does what I learned today relate to what I knew before?
• Have I made any study aids I will need to remember what I learned?
• Is there a way to check the answer for these problems?
• Have I read ahead to preview the next lesson?

Students who can answer all those questions positively can move on to another assignment. Your teen will find that a few extra minutes a day will make a big difference in math comprehension and results.
