Ask Teachers About Summer Learning

It has never been more true: The learning activities you provide at home have a big effect on your teen's academic success. But you don't have to come up with these activities on your own. Teachers are a valuable resource for suggestions and guidance. The school year may be winding down, but you can still make contact and ask for their help.

It is also true that the need for your involvement doesn't end when the school year does. Keeping learning alive over the summer will help ensure that your teen avoids losing the skills gained this year. Before the summer break, contact at least one of your teen’s teachers. Ask for several specific suggestions of things you can do to keep your teen learning this summer. Commit to doing them. You'll be ensuring that your teen is as ready as possible for the next school year.
