Choose Volunteer Activities With Your Teen
Students learn a lot from volunteering. And few things bring families closer than working together to help others. Look for opportunities to volunteer with your teen. More organizations are returning to accepting student volunteers. That's especially true if their parents sign up, too!
Here are some ideas to discuss with your teen:
- National organizations, such as the American Red Cross, need volunteers in a variety of positions. Your teen can find out more by checking out their websites.
- Senior citizens usually love to spend time with young people. Many seniors enjoy it when someone reads to or plays a game with them. You and your teen could call a local nursing home or senior center to see about in-person and virtual opportunities.
- A local museum may welcome friendly helpers to staff the information desk.
- A local park may have clean-up days geared for teens.
- A humane society or animal shelter may be the ideal place to volunteer if you and your teen are animal lovers.
