Spend Time With Your Teen

Most parents of babies play with their children every day. But the older children get, the less time parents spend relaxing and playing with them.

Between your schedule and your teen's, there may not be much time to relax together every day. And of course, many teens would rather hang out with their friends than with their parents. But one of the most important ways parents can help teens learn is by spending time with them.

Find an hour this week when your family will be together. Turn off everyone's devices. Sit down and play a card game, board game or whatever your family enjoys. Trivia games are especially good because they encourage conversation.

If you can get outdoors, even better. Go for a walk, run or bike ride. If your teen has a favorite sport, ask for some pointers. This gives your teen a chance to shine as well as spend time with you.
