The Right Choice is Conscious and Informed

Teens are faced with lots of choices—everything from which friends they'll spend time with to which colleges they'll try to get into. How can they make sure the choices they're making are the correct ones? Wise choices are both conscious and informed.

Talk with your teen about what that means. Explain that:

Help your teen understand that the worst choices teens make are usually those they make by default. Because they didn't choose their courses carefully, for example, they ended up with a class they don't like. By making conscious and informed choices, your teen can avoid that trap.
