Have Fun Together Tracking Family History
Few things build family unity like remembering experiences you've shared. Here are some ways to focus on the past and build connections for the future with your teen:
- Keep a family journal. Let your teen decorate a binder. Encourage family members to fill it with mementos and details about special times spent together.
- Organize a photo album. Gather old family photographs and look through them with your teen. Ask your teen to put them in an album and add captions.
- Have a Past Party. Invite relatives over to share memories. Ask them to bring photos, letters and other reminders of family events. Pass around a notebook for recording stories.
- Start a guest book. When people visit your home, ask them to sign a guest book and write a short note. Wait a while to look through it with your teen and reminisce.
- Make a time capsule. Let each family member pick a few things to include. Put it away where you'll avoid opening it for several years.
