Lists Help Keep Your Teen's Memory Sharp

Once, you had a child with a razor-sharp memory. You couldn't make empty promises because your child would remember and remind you at every turn. But now that same child is a teen, nothing you say seems to stick!

Does this sound familiar? You are not alone. The emotional and physical changes during the teen years can make many kids forgetful and disorganized. This is usually a temporary phase.

While it lasts, urge your student to keep a pen and paper, or a phone with a notetaking app, on hand as much as possible. Then get your teen into the habit of making lists!

Encourage your teen to keep lists of as many fun things as possible. These might include lists of favorite bands or flavors of ice cream, for example. Then your student can carry the habit over to school and make lists of tasks and assignments.
