Planning, Time Management and Organization Are Key for Test Success
To succeed on tests, students need planning, time management and organization skills.
Share these tips to improve your teen's ability to:
- Plan. Encourage your teen to start planning at the beginning of each unit to be ready for the test at the end. These plans could include scheduling enough time to read assignments. Your teen could commit to listening in class and taking notes.
- Manage time. Successful students know that cramming doesn't work. Each week, your teen should spend an hour reviewing notes on reading and class discussions. In the week before a test, your student should schedule some study time each day.
- Organize. When studying for a test, students should review past quizzes, class notes and worksheets. Of course, that means they all need to be in one handy place. Give your teen some pocket folders to put inside the binder for each class for storing papers for that class.
