Get Your Teen Into the Calendar Habit

Would you be lost without your personal calendar? Many of us would.

That's true of teens, too. They are busy balancing assignments, tests, meetings, practices, part-time jobs and other commitments. That's a lot to keep track of. To help, teach your teen to write everything down on a personal calendar. It can be in printed form, or a digital app. (Many great-looking wall calendars are on sale this time of year.)

Help your teen establish a calendar habit by asking each day if anything has come up—a long-term assignment, a committee meeting—that needs to go on the calendar. Then encourage your student to check the calendar at the same time each morning before school. Seeing what's coming up helps your teen prepare—and avoid last minute panic. It's a habit for a lifetime.
