Teens Need Regular Medical Care

When your teen was young, you may have had a close relationship with the pediatrician. Many parents know their children's doctors well and feel comfortable asking their advice.

But now your teen may feel too old to see a children's doctor. You may not see a doctor regularly yourself.

If this sounds familiar, do something about it today. Many people have put off routine health care during the pandemic. But teens need regular checkups. And parents need a relationship with a doctor who is familiar with their teen's health. The pandemic makes this even more important.

A doctor can do much more in an exam than check your teen's height, weight and blood pressure. The doctor can provide fact-based answers to questions about vaccines and pandemic protocols. The doctor can discuss your teen's nutritional needs. The doctor can answer questions and counsel your teen about alcohol and drug use, sexual activity, eating disorders and weapons.

If you need help finding a doctor for your teen, a pediatrician may be able to recommend someone who specializes in teen health. A doctor of family medicine is another good choice.
