Make Attendance a Priority All Year Long

There's no question that student achievement goes hand in hand with strong attendance. Students miss a lot if they aren't in class: explanations, discussions, demonstrations and hands-on learning opportunities. Learning builds day by day, and it's often hard to catch up on missed lessons.

It's important that your teen maintain a strong attendance habit from now until year's end. Make it clear that while it may be difficult to get out of a warm bed on cold winter mornings, staying in bed is not an option. Don't allow your teen to miss school for a part-time job or family vacations. Students shouldn't stay home to finish homework or study for a test, either.
