Start a New Year With New Goals

The beginning of the year is a great time for students to set new academic and personal goals. To help, talk together about what your teen did well in the fall. Then discuss things your student would like to improve in the coming months. Help your teen set specific and realistic goals and identify steps for meeting them.

Here are some examples:

  1. Earn at least a B in chemistry by studying 20 extra minutes a day.
  2. Keep class notes and school papers more organized with a weekly filing session.
  3. Strive to make the varsity soccer team by increasing running speed.
  4. Volunteer at the community center once a week.
