Find Out Who’s Who at School

Who was your teen’s elementary school principal? Most parents can answer that question without thinking. That’s because they met the principal many times at school and at school functions.

But many parents have to check the yearbook for the name of their teen’s middle or high school principal. Many secondary schools have over a thousand students. Often parents feel too isolated to be involved at school. Then when a problem crops up, they don’t know where to turn.

If this sounds like you, make a New Year’s resolution. Volunteer to help with whatever school activity is most important to your teen. While you’re at it, make an appointment to meet the principal and a few of your teen's teachers.

Your teen may protest, but will secretly appreciate your efforts. And the more connected you are, the smoother the rest of your teen’s journey through school will be.
