Be Prompt to Teach Timeliness

Are you or your teen often late for appointments? Do you justify your lateness by saying, “We are just so busy!” This sends your teen the wrong message.

Take school, for example. When you drop your student off late for school or allow her to start the day late, you’re telling her:

Teens who are on time for school are more inclined to take school commitments seriously. They respect others’ time and needs. They don't miss class time. As a result, they do better in school.

Being on time is a habit teens can learn. And the best way to teach it to them is to model the habit yourself. Plan ahead so you can be punctual for work, school meetings, etc. Follow through on your commitments. And don’t make excuses when you are running late.
