Your Time is a Precious Gift to Your Teen

Connecting with your teen can be especially difficult in December. Each of you may have your own activities and social events to attend.

Your teen may not be as excited about some family traditions as she was when she was younger. But there are still many ways to bring the two of you closer during this busy month. As always, the key is to show your teen that you want to share her interests, then make the time to do it.

Depending on your teen’s interests, you might:

• Cook her favorite meal together.
• Listen to a holiday concert.
• Watch a sporting event.
• Go shopping, in stores or online.
• Watch a new movie. Talk about it over a snack afterward.
• Go to the library and check-out a best-seller to read together.
• Decorate a room in whatever style your teen chooses.
