What Do Teens Need Most for Success in School and Life?
Today's world is complicated and challenging. How can you help prepare your teen to cope and succeed in it?
According to one expert, teens need:
- Self-respect. Teens need to know their strengths and weaknesses. They must learn to focus on their strengths, while still trying to improve on their weaknesses. And they need to accept that they are not perfect, and that's OK.
- Goals. Teens should have some idea of where they want to go and how they plan to get there.
- Communication skills. Teens need to be able to express themselves calmly and effectively.
- Social skills. Teens need to know how to behave in a variety of situations.
- Stress management.Teens need skills in solving problems. And they need to know how to relax.
- Exercise. This is necessary for top physical and mental health.
- Family support. This may be the most important of all. Your love and support provides your teen with a foundation for achieving all the other habits and qualities.
