Make Sure Your Teen is Getting Enough Sleep

The last thing your teen probably wants right now is a regular bedtime. But it may be the best thing for him. Getting enough sleep is critical for him to do his best in school.

Lost sleep for two or more nights in a row can make teens moody and cranky. Their attention spans may decrease. They may not perform as well in class or on tests. If you start to notice things like this, your teen may be sleep-deprived.

Help your teen stick to a regular, healthy sleep schedule. Experts recommend that teens get between eight and 10 hours of sleep every 24 hours. Encourage him to stick with the schedule on the weekends, too. Staying up later and sleeping in will only make Monday morning harder.
