Active Bodies Support Active Minds

Too many teens are out of shape because they don’t get the exercise they need. This is a problem for their health, and also for their minds. Research shows that exercise can improve learning.

Students may get some exercise in physical education classes at school. But parents shouldn’t expect school physical education classes to provide all the physical activity their teens need. One study showed that in the average P.E. class, students were physically active less than 10 percent of the time. Many students also go to P.E. only two or three times a week, and others not at all.
