Prepare for Better Parent-Teacher Conferences

Your child may be a teenager, but that doesn’t mean you should stop having parent-teacher conferences. Your teen doesn't need to be having a problem for you to request a conference, either. Teamwork between you and the teacher always benefits your student.

When you prepare before your conference, the benefits increase. First, talk with your teen. Ask which subjects he likes best, least and why. Is there anything he would like you to bring up with his teachers? Then make a list of things you want to discuss during the conference. Your list might include:

Begin your conference prepared to create an action plan. Have a pen and paper ready to write down the teachers' suggestions. List things you will all do to help your teen excel.
