Play a Game to Help Your Teen ‘Concentrate’ on Studies

Playing a homemade version of the Concentration game with your teen is a fun way to help him study related words, facts or information.

If, for example, your teen is studying the famous symbols and images that are associated with different cities and countries (Eiffel Tower-Paris, Taj Mahal- India, etc.), give him some index cards. Suggest that your teen:

Cut out pictures of such buildings and monuments from travel magazines or print them off the internet.
Take about 20 blank cards and paste one picture each on 10 of them. Write the name of each structure under its picture.
Write the name of the city and country that is associated with each symbol on the remaining cards, one name per card.
Lay all the cards on the table in rows with their blank sides showing.
Turn over two cards. If they match, he keeps the cards. If not, he returns them to the table to try again.

This game is just as fun with vocabulary words or science terms, math formulas, or dates and corresponding events.
