Is Your Family Functioning Well?
What is the definition of a “normal” family? There’s probably no such thing. But most experts agree there are signs that a family is functioning well.
Here are six of those signs:
- Laughter and fun are a regular part of family life.
- Family members communicate well. They show love, respect and trust, even during difficult times.
- Household rules are clear and consistent. They are also flexible enough to change with the family’s needs.
- Parents and kids set personal goals and are able to meet most of them. They also feel their needs are being met.
- Natural family changes don’t cause big problems. As the family matures, members adjust.
- Family members have reasonable expectations of one another. And these expectations are usually met.
