Graph the Weather Together

As spring weather returns, help your child develop graphing skills by making a weather chart. On an April calendar, have your child write down or draw a picture of each day’s weather.

At the end of the month, ask your elementary schooler to count the number of sunny, cloudy and rainy days. Next, help your child make a simple bar graph of that information. Now, ask your child some questions. Were there more sunny or rainy days? Which weather happened least often? Were there as many cloudy days as rainy days? Help your child use the graph to answer your questions.
