Bake a Cookie Alphabet With Your Child

Many families enjoy baking cookies together. If you have young readers in your family, bake up at least one batch of alphabet cookies. Any recipe for cookie dough that can be rolled and cut into shapes will work.

If you don’t have alphabet cookie cutters, let your child “write” letters on the rolled-out dough with a clean finger. Then you can cut around the letters with a sharp knife. Let your child use the letters to spell out words. (This would be a fun way to learn spelling words one week.)
