Help Your Child Recognize Different Letter Styles

Young children just learning to write may become confused if the printing style taught by their teacher is different from the print they see in their books or on worksheets.

To avoid this, look through catalogs, magazines and newspapers for different letters with your child. How many different kinds of A’s can you find? Then, cut out all kinds of letters (both uppercase and lowercase). Next, have your child paste the letters onto pieces of paper: one page for A's, another for B's and so on. Or let your child experiment with different fonts on your computer. By seeing the different styles of letters, your child will learn that one letter can be printed in a variety of ways.
