Encourage Your Child to Finish Last

Some children are naturally competitive. They race during tests to see who can finish first. But this behavior often leads to careless mistakes and hurried, incomplete responses. And the students’ grades reflect these errors.

Once this problem is discovered, it is easy to correct. Remind your elementary schooler that it is important to take time to double-check answers. This may mean that your child is among the last to finish the test. But it is also likely that your child's test results will improve greatly.
