Pack Lunch with a Note Tucked Inside
Here's a fun way to squeeze more reading into the day: Pack a note in your child's lunch. It doesn't have to be "mushy" or embarrassing. You can:
- Say something nice. Give a compliment or offer encouragement before a test. Include whatever message will mean the most to your child.
- Write down a "joke of the day." Kids' joke books and calendars can provide lots of ideas.
- Include a silly poem, such as, "Roses are red. Violets are blue. Don't trade this sandwich. I made it for you!"
- Share some good news: "Surprise! Grandma's coming over today. She'll be at the bus stop with me."
Encourage your child to write notes back to you, too.
