A Little Boredom Can Spark Imagination

Some parents try to fill every minute of their child's day with activities. And they're worn to a frazzle trying to get their child to all those practices, lessons and meetings. "But at least my child is not bored," they say to themselves.

But it's OK to let your child be bored, at least once in a while. A little boredom can actually encourage kids to be creative. Your child may decide to fill idle time by building a fort from a blanket and chairs, drawing with crayons or reading a book.

Too much boredom, like too much of anything, can be bad for children. But when children are given a little time just to sit and think, great things can happen!
