Children are never too young to develop an interest in science. They are naturally curious about the world and how it works!

To use your child's natural curiosity to inspire an interest in science:

Take nature walks. When you walk with your child, make sure you stop to notice nature around you. Talk about what you see. Ask questions: Why did ants build their house there? Why do birds fly away in the winter? When you get home, see if you can find the answers together.
Draw pictures. Provide a subject: Something your child has observed in nature. Then have your child write about the picture (or dictate to you). Finally, read the story out loud together. You can keep a collection of science stories and turn them into a book.
Plant a garden together. Children know they're growing, and they're always interested in watching other things grow. Take some time this month to plant some seeds for a small garden, outside or in windowsill pots.
Experiment. Fill the kitchen sink with water. Give your child objects from around the house. Which does your student think will sink? Which will float? Test them and see.
