Discuss What You Want, Not What You Don't

When it comes to effective discipline, remember: It's better to tell your children what they should do (positive) than what they shouldn't do (negative). For example:

When you explain the action you want to see, you provide a chance for your child to do the right thing. Then you can offer praise when your child does it. The task gets done, and you both feel good. Even better, you're not being critical of your child, which won't make either of you happy.
