Settle Into a Schoolwork Routine
Your child may not love doing homework, but having a study time routine will make it easier to settle down when there is some to do. To establish one:
- Choose the same time each day for studying or doing assignments. A set time reduces the need for nagging.
- Include everyone at home in the routine. Have family members turn off noisy distractions, such as the TV. Instead, read, work or do quiet chores.
- Keep rescheduling to a minimum. If there is a conflict, be sure your child knows when study time will be.
- Keep track with an assignment calendar. Ask your child questions, such as "How's the report coming? It's due Friday."
