Help Your Child Make Realistic Resolutions

The beginning of a new year is a great time to help children set new school goals. Talk together about things your child did well in the fall. Discuss what improvements or accomplishments your student would like to make in the rest of the year. Then write down some specific and realistic goals and plans for meeting them.

Your child might resolve to do things like:

  1. Keep notes and school papers more organized by filing them every Friday.
  2. Say hi to two new people each week.
  3. Master multiplication facts by working with flash cards on the car ride to soccer.
  4. Read for 20 minutes every day.
