Try a Library Scavenger Hunt

Libraries contain the answers to almost any question your child will ever have. Going on a "library scavenger hunt" is a fun way to help her understand where in the library to find certain kinds of information.

On a day when you are looking for something fun to do together, write down some facts for your child to find. Then help her identify the places in the library where she could look for them.

Here are a few to get you started. Help your child find:

• The capital of each state in the U.S.
• The height of the world's tallest building.
• The names of the first 15 U.S. Presidents.
• A recipe for chocolate chip cookies.
• A list of the musical compositions by Ludwig van Beethoven.
• Another word for ostentatious.
• One of Benjamin Franklin's sayings.
• The name of each school in your town.
