Help Your Child Take School Seriously

It may not always be clear to young children why their parents hold jobs. Discuss your job with your child and what it means for your family. Talk about the responsibilities it involves, such as being on time every day.

Once your child is aware of your reasons for working, talk about ways that doing your job is a lot like going to school—you and your child both have to get up and get ready on time, people count on you to be there and to work hard, etc. This helps her understand that school is also an important daily responsibility.
