The fourth Saturday in October is Make a Difference Day. This day offers you a great chance to help your child do something that can make a difference in your neighborhood, your community, or the nation—and boost your child's own self-esteem into the bargain.
Together, come up with a list of things your child could do to make a difference. Think about what is important to your child, and talk about things you could do as a family. If your child likes to draw, for example, perhaps your family could spend the day making cheerful cards to send to a nursing home. Is there is an issue in your community that your child cares about? Writing a letter to a public official is a great way for kids to be part of the solution.
Often, children feel powerless. By helping your child take action, you'll prove that kids can make a difference.
