Have a Daily Progress Check

Talking with your child about school shows her you care about her life and her education.

Each day, ask your child to show you at least one example of her schoolwork. One day, it might be a test. Another day, it might be a regular class assignment. Talk with your child about the progress she is making. Praise her for her effort as well as her good work. Encourage her to try harder if she needs to improve.

Making this a regular habit will help both you and your child. It will let you know more about what's going on in school and what your child is learning. And it will let your child know that you think schoolwork is important.
