Start a Sentence-a-Day Story

Here's a fun way to encourage your child to write. Give her a special notebook, and encourage her to write a story—one sentence at a time.

Write down the date that your child begins to write. Then each day, have her write one sentence—and only one—to move the story along. It's helpful if you set aside a regular time for this writing. And if your child is just learning to write, she may need your help.

Once a week, have your child add an illustration. Over time, she will have written an imaginative and fun storybook.
