Plan Some 'Bird-Brained' Learning Activities
Have migrating birds come back to your area for the spring? Help your child sharpen her powers of observation while introducing her to these feathered friends.
Here's how:
- Look for birds in your neighborhood with your child. Which types do you see most often? Can you identify them?
- Help your child make drawings of the different shapes of bird beaks you see.
- Go online with your child to look for bird identification websites or apps. Or check out a guide to birds from your region from the library. Try to identify the birds you have seen.
- Make a homemade bird feeder together and watch the birds as they enjoy the food you set out for them. Have your child continue to draw new species she sees.
